Nest Health Secures $4M in Funding to Advance Whole-Family Healthcare Accessibility

Whole-family healthcare startup Nest Health has recently secured over $4 million in an extended Seed Round led by SpringTide with support from notable investors such as Alumni Ventures and Ochsner Ventures. Founded in 2021, Nest Health aims to revolutionize healthcare accessibility, particularly for vulnerable populations. With a vision to provide in-depth healthcare solutions, Nest Health’s approach targets families as units rather than isolated individuals. Dr. Rebekah Gee, the Founder and CEO, emphasizes the importance of addressing family dynamics in healthcare, stating that families experience various health challenges together, ranging from nutrition and addiction to poverty and poor health.

The company’s integrated care delivery team of doctors, advanced practice providers, family Advocates (medical assistants), pediatricians, dietitians, and mental health specialists provides families with a range of services, including primary care at home and online, a 24/7 Nest nurse line for support and advice, evening and weekend availability, check-ups and well visits, sick visits, vaccinations, mental health support, nutrition support, education and coaching, chronic condition management, specialty care, and more. This thorough approach to healthcare delivery reflects Nest Health’s commitment to addressing the diverse needs of families, particularly those facing socioeconomic and healthcare issues. Nest Health’s founders, Dr. Rebekah Gee and Rebecca Kavoussi, recognized the systemic challenges that prevent families from accessing quality care, such as transportation barriers and the lack of affordable childcare. By offering a range of services tailored to meet families’ unique circumstances, Nest Health aims to break down these barriers and improve health outcomes for both caregivers and their children. Through partnerships with health plans and strategic investments, Nest Health aims to scale its innovative model to reach even more families, ultimately driving positive change in healthcare delivery and accessibility nationwide.

The recent funding will enable Nest Health to expand its reach to new markets and strengthen partnerships with health plans. Brad Otto, a partner at SpringTide, expressed enthusiasm for supporting Nest Health’s mission to make whole-family care accessible. He believes this investment represents an important step forward in delivering healthcare innovations to underserved populations, particularly in the Medicaid sector, which has historically seen limited venture capital investments compared to Medicare Advantage.

The disparity in healthcare quality is particularly pronounced in states like Louisiana, where maternal and infant health rankings are alarmingly low. Louisiana ranks near the bottom in child well-being and maternal health, with maternal mortality rates highlighting gaps in care accessibility. Dr. Gee, drawing on her experience as a former Secretary of Health in Louisiana, outlines the need for systemic changes to address these disparities. She believes Nest Health represents a shift in healthcare delivery by bringing care directly into the homes of families, which eliminates barriers such as transportation and childcare.

Nest Health’s commitment to whole-family care aligns with a growing recognition of the interconnectedness of health within families. By providing support involving medical, behavioral, and social aspects, Nest Health aims to help families live healthier lives. The investment from SpringTide and other partners validates Nest Health’s innovative approach and shows a broader shift towards prioritizing in-depth care solutions for underserved communities.
