Rave Mobile Safety Introduces COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Solution

Rave Mobile Safety has introduced a COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Solution that will make it possible for public health agencies to determine who should receive priority vaccination, custom notifications to these persons, give reminders for subsequent vaccinations, and then have follow-up assessments after the vaccination is complete.

On November 20, two companies, Pfizer and BioNTech, sent in an urgent use authorization request for their COVID-19 vaccine making claims that it has 95% effectivity in defending the recipient against the SARS-CoV-2 novel coronavirus. Afterward, a board of independent industry experts organized by the Food and Drug Administration will examine the request and are required to give their endorsement for a preliminary distribution of the vaccine.

While waiting for the approval, the federal agency assigned to deliver the vaccine to state health agencies – “Operation Warp Speed” – is all set to transport 6.4 million doses of the vaccine straight away. The agency has completed the dry shipping runs to ensure that the public health agencies obtaining the vaccine are capable of handling it. It is hoped that 40 million doses of the vaccine will be delivered at year-end.

Who Will Be Given COVID-19 Vaccine First?

Though decisions regarding who may get the COVID-19 vaccine first are going to be on a state-by-state basis, public health agencies need to comply with the guidelines established by the CDC´s advisory committee. These guidelines propose putting first the healthcare workers, other essential employees, persons at high risk of getting COVID-19 because of underlying medical issues, and people above sixty-five years old.

Though it should be easy to identify health care staff and other essential staff, public health agencies may come across issues in determining at-risk persons because of insufficient information. Not many states retain special needs registrations of at-risk people; and, those that do need self-registration – which means that lots of people can be disregarded from the registries on account of a lack of information concerning the service or a reluctance to disclose personal information.

Solving Identification Concerns with Smart 911

The CDC website has a page focused on Disability and Health Emergency Preparedness Tracking which provides the resources public health agencies could use to know about persons with health ailments in their jurisdictions and determine their needs. The resource that gives the most coverage is the Smart 911 system – a risk-free, national database developed to identify the people who may need support during an emergency.

The Smart 911 system provides people or their carers the chance to set up an online safety profile that details any medical ailments they may have or any mobility difficulties they may encounter in an emergency. This data is exclusively accessible to call center dispatchers that receive a 9-1-1 call and public health officers – who may use it to determine at-risk persons and those who might require help going to a medical center to obtain a vaccination.

The Rave Mobile Safety Vaccine Distribution Program

The Vaccine Distribution Solution by Rave Mobile Safety offers public health agencies a means to gain access to Smart 911´s crowd-sourced records to be able to distinguish at-risk people who must be prioritized for the vaccination. As soon as identified, public health agencies can get hold of each person through voicemail, SMS text, or email, tell them where and when they can get vaccinated, and know whether it is needed to organize transport to and from the health center.

After getting the first vaccination, public health agencies can set up the Vaccine Distribution Solution to give patients text alerts for the second vaccination, and another follow-up notification to assess for side effects. By doing this, public health agencies could better determine at-risk persons, better monitor distribution progress in their location, and systematize vaccine team coordination.
